Asseco and Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) begin cooperation in the provision of qualified electronic signatures for citizens

January 16, 2025

Asseco Data Systems (ADS) and Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) have signed a letter of intent declaring their readiness to cooperate and provide the service of qualified electronic signatures for all citizens, made available within the European Digital Identity Wallet. The agreement is a response to the requirements of the eIDAS 2.0 regulation.

The cooperation between ADS and PWPW aims to provide broad access to secure digital solutions, simplify qualified signature processes for non-professional (public) services, and support the development of the digital economy through the use of trusted identification and authentication services.

For more than 20 years, qualified electronic signature providers have been providing their services to the domestic and international markets. The knowledge, potential and experience gained during this time will allow preparation, as well as support of the Polish state in building a free qualified signature solution for citizens for non-professional purposes, which is to be part of the European Digital Identity Wallet ecosystem and follows from the EU eIDAS 2.0 regulation.

“The willingness of two commercial companies - Asseco Data Systems and Polish Security Printing Works - to work together shows how important and complex it is to provide citizens with broad access to trust services, especially in the area of providing qualified electronic signature services. The implementation will not only enhance the quality of public services, but will also strengthen Poland's position internationally as a leader in the implementation of digital solutions in line with European standards,” said Artur Miękina, Director of Project Sales and e-Business Development, Asseco Data Systems.

The companies' cooperation will cover the technological and business areas, targeting the implementation of key services for the Polish state.

"The joint efforts of PWPW and ADS are aimed at enabling citizens to use qualified electronic signatures through the European Digital Identity Wallet. We also hope that further development of this cooperation will enable the creation, development and sharing of other advanced IT solutions that will strengthen the digital dimension of public services, while ensuring their security and compliance with the latest technological standards,” added Przemysław Soboń, Deputy Director of the Digital Products Division, Polish Security Printing Works.

ADS and PWPW remain open to the participation of other Polish qualified trust service providers in the implementation of the Letter of Intent.
